Amazing. The way my soul is calmed and peace enters my heart at Mass. Not like the storm goes away. The storm of life gets focused and the chaos has reason. This came about slowly over years of just attending Mass, not participating. I have realized there is an endless depth to the Mass. Every word and pause has meaning, meaning enough to satisfy the greatest intellects. There is a connection not only to my fellow parishioners, but to all Catholics, past present and future. The Mass is nearly the same in every part of the world in every language. In fact if we could travel back 2000 years and attend a Mass we would find it familiar. One of the saints said that at every Mass we are surrounded by the heavenly host. In fact the only reason the priest can lift the consecrated host up is because he is supported by angels. These must be some of the reasons that five of the US Supreme Court Justices attend daily Mass. To my lapse Catholic friends, come back to Mass. Any differences you may have with the church will soon be reconciled. And as promised Christ's peace will abide in you.
